Quique Dacosta was born in 1972. At the age of 14, he started working in a pizzeria while learning to cook from French cookbooks, with styles very different from the ones he knew. Once he finished his Secondary Education, 16 years old Quique Dacosta began to work in the restaurant El Poblet, that later would become the Quique Dacosta Restaurant.
While visiting in his youth the best Spanish restaurants of the moment, Quique Dacosta worked in the different positions that can be in a restaurant. In this way, he became head chef and finally in 1999 Dacosta would become the owner of the Poblet.
From that moment on, the gastronomic vision of the Poblet changed radically. He obtained his first Michelin Star in 2002 and four years later, Quique Dacosta obtained the second one. In between, he obtained the recognition as the best European cook by the International Academies of Gastronomy.
In 2012 his restaurant was renamed as Quique Dacosta Restaurant, and at that momento he also got the third Michelin Star. This Star was achieved after changing the inspiration he got from the Valencian landscapes for an introspection that pursued feelings and ideas, in a tasting of more than 40 tapas.
During the months Quique Dacosta Restaurant is closed, the chef and his team devote themselves to working on creativity for next year’s season.
