Daniel Humm, along with Will Guidara, owns one of the World’s Best Restaurants: Eleven Madison Park in New York. Daniel Humm’s cuisine career began when he was 14 years old, when he started his cooking practice in prestigious restaurants such as Le Pont de Brent, in Switzerland. When he turned 24 and while managing the kitchen of the hotel Gasthaus zum Gupf, he earned his first Michelin star.
In 2003, Humm decided to move to the United States to settle in San Francisco. Then, he moved to New York where he became a chef at Eleven Madison Park in 2006.
Thanks to Will Guidara’s funding, he bought the restaurant later. They both became owners of what would later be considered as the best restaurant in the world.
Humm’s culinary creations have been described as colourful, simple and pure, filled with seasonal flavours. His work is based on four principles: delight, beauty, creativity and intention, and he achieves a luxurious minimalism with fresh local ingredients.
Daniel Humm constantly works on the innovation of his dishes, as well as the way they are served in his restaurant. Thanks to his determination and passion, he managed to lead his restaurant to the top of haute cuisine. His philosophy recalls the German concept of Leidenschaft: “If you are really passionate about something, you should ask yourself whether you are willing to give your all. If not, it is just a hobby”.
